General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there have been some fan complaints following the big reveal of Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) name for their daughter.

Of course, most viewers seem to like Amelia Grace since that’s a perfectly sweet combination that suits this little girl.

It’s the Corinthos part that people seem to have a problem with!

On social media, many GH fans have been lashing out over Michael keeping the Corinthos name and giving it to his children.

Michael acts like he hates Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and everything he stands for, so some viewers are confused over why he wants to carry on the Corinthos legacy.

However, Michael explained that decision himself when he first declared he was done with his father.

Back in April 2022, Michael washed his hands of Sonny and admitted he was tempted to change his last name, but he ultimately decided against it.

In the end, Michael didn’t see why he should have to change his last name because of Sonny and announced plans to redeem it instead.

When people heard the name “Corinthos,” Michael didn’t want them to think of Sonny, violence and crime.

For Michael, the goal became to make it like Sonny never existed. Michael wanted to make the Corinthos name stand for something good so that when people thought of it, they thought of him as well as Wiley.

Michael’s vision for the Corinthos name and future now extends to his baby girl.

That’s why Michael was proud to name his daughter Amelia Corinthos (Nathan and Owen Ford) and have her become part of the positive association he has in mind.

Michael’s son was previously named Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Viron Weaver), but the writers may have quietly dropped the Quartermaine part since his little sister is just a Corinthos.

Regardless, Michael was clear about wanting to keep the Corinthos name and focus on its redemption, so hopefully that explains his motives and clears up any lingering confusion for fans.

Willow will presumably take the Corinthos name once she ties the knot with Michael, so she can become part of Michael’s positive Corinthos movement, too.

Naturally, Willow will have to recover from her leukemia battle first, but Michael will hold out hope for some miraculous news.
